Effect of temperature on the dynamic contact angle
نویسندگان
چکیده
The temperature influence on the contact angle relaxation of partially wetting drops is measured for squalane on poly(ethyleneterephthalate). The results are analyzed with the molecular kinetic model, a hydrodynamic model and a model that combines the two previous ones. For each temperature all three approaches can fit our experiments well, but only the molecular kinetic approach leads to physically meaningful parameters. The associated free energy of wetting, introduced by that approach, increases weakly with temperature. © 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All

A Novel Method with Dilute Surfactant Flooding by Considering the Effect of Time and Temperature on Crude Oil Aging, Experimental Study on Heavy Oil of Bangestan
Wettability alteration has been a sophisticated issue for scientists and reservoir engineers since early 20th century; thus, many investigations have been carried out to determine wettability and enhance it to ideal conditions, which leads to improvement in oil recovery. Dilute surfactant flooding has been approved as one of the noteworthy methods in chemical flooding. Several petroleum reservo...
متن کاملComputational Fluid Dynamic- Two Fluid Model Study of Gas-Solid Heat Transfer in a Riser with Various Inclination Angles
A two fluid model (TFM) was used to study gas-solid heat transfer in a riser with different inclination angles. A two dimensional pipe with 5.8 cm internal diameter and 5 meter length was chosen. Effect of bed angle and solid particles feed rate were studied on the heat transfer behavior of gas and solid particles. Obtained results from simulation are compared with the experimental data in the...
متن کاملHydrophilicity of Silica Nano-Porous Thin Films: Calcination Temperature Effects
In this research work, silica nano-porous thin films were deposited on glass substrates by layer by layer method. The thin films were calcinated at various calcination temperatures (200, 300, 400, and 500 °C). The morphology, surface characteristics, surface roughness and hydrophilic properties of the thin films were investigated by field emission scanning electron microscopy, attenuated total ...
متن کاملContact Angles of Droplets during Spread and Recoil after Impinging on a Heated Surface
T he contact angle of a droplet impinging upon a hot surface undergoes changes as the drop spreads and recoils. The motion of the liquid and the effect of evaporation from the edges of the drop affect the contact angle. The changes in the contact angle during spreading affect the spreading characteristics of the droplet upon impact. However, the models available in literature for the maximum sp...
متن کاملSimulation of nanodroplet impact on a solid surface
A novel computational fluid dynamics and molecular kinetic theory (CFD-MK) method was developed to simulate the impingement of a nanodroplet onto a solid surface. A numerical solution of the Navier–Stokes equation using a volume-of-fluid (VOF) technique was used to model nanodroplet deformation. Dynamic contact angle during droplet impact was obtained by molecular kinetic theory. This dynamic c...
